  • Igor Costa made it to the World Championship finals for the second time in his career, losing the VirGen mirror to newcomer Andrew Estrada. Costa's previous finals appearance was in 2012, when he defeated Harrison Leven to become the World Champion. 
  • As of 2018, this is the only World Championships to not feature any American players in Top 8.
